grey EP

released 11.01.22

"grey" was the second color concept EP released in the series. "grey" is meant to explore feelings of sorrow, grief, and losing oneself.

notable tracks feature a rerelease of isn't it hell and the artist's favorite, reverse kintsugi.

isn't it hell is a nod to masking yourself, upholding a perfect persona so that those around you won't be concerned for what's really going on behind the curtain. penned in high school and released a few years later, isn't it hell is the track that started it all.

reverse kintsugi is based on the Japanese art of kintsukuroi, or kintsugi, where broken pottery would be repaired with inlays of gold. it translates to "golden repair," and symbolizes that there is beauty in imperfection and meaning in every experience. to cadence, there was a question in that symbolism - what if you repeatedly broke to the same issue? reverse kintsugi explores that cycle mentality, where only your gold frame can withstand.

the EP also features honestthxforlettingmestaythenight, 3am thoughts, and a special demo version of thxforlettingmestaythenight.

blush EP

released 04.11.22

"blush" was the first color concept. "blush" evokes feelings of joy, the beginning of spring, and falling in love.

notable tracks feature the Twitch favorite purple heart and the energetic fall (for someone else), recorded with the help of electric guitarist David Victor.

the color concept EP series started with an idea in 2021, where cadence sought to release themed collections of her vulnerable works. they would revolve around certain emotional themes, in sets of 5 to 6 songs each. "blush" was the first EP to be recorded in full, and it was an experiment for cadence to work with instruments and sounds outside of her sphere of experience. through the help of friends and family, BLUSH!fall (for someone else)purple heartsunset, and finally the wedding anthem, be my forever, was released in Spring 2022.

soon after, the artist got to work on "grey", the second color concept EP to be released in late 2022. there is another EP in the works, perhaps the last one, set to release Winter 2023. it will dive into some of the most raw experiences cadence has ever penned.

"on the edge of safe." is a lyrical piece inspired by cadence's poet friend, exemplifying the nature of freedom and a descent into self-aware destruction. you can read the poem for yourself on cadence's Instagram.
